Merry Christmas!

At Rampton and Defay Orthodontics, we know this is a fun and exciting time for all. There is also a lot more to this holiday season than just egg nog and presents (although, both are nice). Service, love, and kindness are important components to make this Christmas season great and even more special.

So, as you are spending time with your loved ones, eating tasty food and roasting chestnuts by the open fire, remember what this season is really all about.

Merry Christmas!

Toys for Tots

In the office of Rampton and Defay, we have decided this Christmas season's charity drive will be for Toys for Tots. We found that Toys for Tots has a great influence and brings joy and hope to those that are less fortunate. They do so by delivering donated gifts to the little ones in our community who wouldn't otherwise have a Christmas gift this year.

We have set up a box in our office until Thursday, December 15th, to receive any unwrapped present you may wish to donate.

Check out the Toys for Tots website to learn more about where the toys are going and how you can help.

Celebrity Braces!

Braces are cool! Just ask Tom Cruise, Emma Watson, Dakota Fanning. All of these celebs spent part of their time at the orthodontist... while they were famous.

Braces Friendly Cookie Recipe

Here at Rampton and Defay Orthodontics we love tasty treats. We are positive you do too. However, not all food is good for our teeth or our braces. Here is a recipe for a batch of cookies that will go easy on your braces! Enjoy!

Marvelous Molasses Cookies
They smell wonderful even before baking, they melt in your mouth, and they never harden up. Yum - the best of gingerbread and ginger snaps in one!

    1 cup shortening
    1 cup brown sugar
    1 egg
    ½ tsp salt
    ½ cup molasses
    ½ cup warm water
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp cinnamon
     ½ tsp ginger
      2 ½ cups flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Baking time 11 minutes.

In a large bowl, combine shortening, brown sugar, egg, salt and molasses, using an electric mixer and beating until fluffy. Add cinnamon and ginger. In a small bowl or measuring cup, stir the baking soda into the warm water; add water mixture to the molasses mixture alternately with the flour until well blended.

Drop by tablespoons onto greased cookie sheets. Bake for 11 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes about 4 dozen. Store in a covered container.

Check out this cooking website for more ideas on braces friendly recipes.

Enjoy!

Don't Let Candy Scare Away a Great Smile.

We all know that it is very easy to get lost in those bags full of candy during this time of the year. It is important that we remember to continue brushing and flossing after we eat those sugary snacks. Also, please don’t forget to avoid those candies that can do harm to your braces. Remember that bad oral hygiene is much scarier than any witch or goblin could be.
Parents, if you are worried about how much candy your child is eating, it might be a good idea to ration it over the course of a few weeks. Doing this will help avoid cavities and tummy aches.

If you have any questions about how to keep your smile looking great, feel free to contact Rampton and Defay Orthodontics.

October: National Orthodontic Health Month

It's October! That means lots of  tasty treats. October also means it is National Orthodontic Health Month. So, be extra careful of what you are eating. Some treats may cause your teeth and braces harm. Check out the American Association of Orthodontists website to see a list of what candies should be avoided. Be safe while trick-or-treating and have a happy Halloween!
